This spring I bought a buffet at an estate sale. I got it for a steal!! I was going to "repurpose" it, but once I rubbed it with lemon oil, it looked so good I am leaving it as is. It is gorgeous and I was excited to decorate it for the fall season and look forward to decorating it for the Christmas season even more. Anyhoo, here are some pics of what I did!

Another Blog? What was I thinking?

OK, so in my never ending endeavor to make a name for myself in the creative world, I have started "repurposing". Yes, goodwill, yard sale, thrift shops and even stuff from my own attic that is outdated. Take a look here.

Gettin' ready!

Ok, pencil boxes filled and put in backpacks, notebooks, check.
first day of school jumper for Lindsay hanging up waiting for Tuesday. You would not believe what I went through to get a little T to go under that jumper. I wanted an off white T and looked in 5 different stores....NONE. Finally I settled on brown and it looks great!!
Ian has gained a lot of weight over the summer while Dylan stayed about the same. So my twins might soon be in different sizes if Ian's weight doesn't drop a bit once he's back in school. I started him back on his med. for ADHD this morning. That stuff will probably taper off his appetite.
It feels like Fall today and I am wishing my house was cleaner so I could decorate a bit. But I keep reminding myself that I can clean all I want next week.
My cousin Jodi told me I haven't updated in a while and I don't get on here much, I know. My life is so crazed I can't believe anyone wants to know about it! LOL!

Lindsay's new dress

This dress was a new pattern and it took me all afternoon Saturday and into the evening hours but I was really wanting to finish it in one day! I love the way it turned out.

I am totally in love with sewing again.

Sunday stuff

1. I spent all Saturday afternoon and all evening sewing..........I got an adorable dress done for Lindsay, picture to follow tomorrow.
2. Jasmine came over to spend the night and spent all afternoon and evening entertaining Lindsay so I could sew. She is such a gem.
3. Dylan is going to Camp Miniwance on Monday for 5 days and 4 nights for FREE. He got invited to the Elementary Leadership Camp.
5. I had a Miche bag party on Thursday, the 19th and we had a great time and lots of laughs.
Love to have people over but do it so rarely anymore.
6. Lindsay is finally feeling like her self after her surgery. Her voice is so different though. Hope it goes back to normal.
7. I miss my Aunt Eve terribly. I thought of her today and it hit me anew that she is gone from this earth and I cannot call her or see her until I go to Heaven too. I miss her so much.
8. This is a totally random post and I know that, but I wanted to post something.

April is Autism Awareness Month

Every day is Autism Awareness at our house.
We struggle on with our Ian. He is such a sweet kid trapped in autism. He is loving, funny, giving and good. He came to me the other day after a bad tantrum and hugged me and said, "Mom, I'm scared." and I asked, "Ian, what are you scared of?" and he answered, "Myself". He is 8 years old.

Entertainment Center Re - Done!!

Funny story first! I bought this piece on Craigslist. For Jacob's room. UPSTAIRS!

guy delivered it for me, I tore right into painting it black. sO sHaRp!!! Rob comes over to help Doug take it up to JaKe'S room....................haha, no way is this big ol' bugger going up the stairs. No matter how they turned it , took the door to the stairs off the hinges, etc. etc. No WaY!

So.............it's in my room DoWnStAiRs! And jake's tv and gaming equipment is still a mess.

Starting Over!!!

So, I decided to delete my whiny butt "no one is reading my blog" post and just get on with it!!
I have so much going on right now........I am working on a possible business venture............my kids are growing and changing..... soon it will be SpRiNg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entertainment Center Re - Do!!

Ok, I got started on the entertainment center yesterday!!!!!!! Here is a before and another before with just a little of the primer on......

Excitement!

So, I got my new sewing machine out of the box today. It is FABULOUS!!!!!!! It is all computerized. It has 60 different stitches and when you pick the stitch you want it even tells you which presser foot you need for that stitch. I had it up and running in minutes and after a few practice passes on an old piece of material, I started sewing together 5 x 5 squares (from a charm pack) to make a charm pack skirt for Lindsay. I had a blast. It sews so nice. It runs like a charm and is so quiet. I am so excited!!!!!!! I wanted to sew some more tonight but Lindsay was up til 9:30 and then I was too tired to sew.

I have another big project ahead of me too. We bought a nice big entertainment center on Craigslist for Jake's bedroom. I plan to prime it and then paint it black. It will hold his tv and all his gaming equipment. I can't wait to have that mess organized.

Tomorrow Jasmine is coming over around 1 and is going to spend the night!! It has been too long since my other girl has been here. Well, two weeks. but that seems like a long time!!

I also purchased a very unique antique desk on Craigslist. And a night stand that I am going to re do and put in Lindsay 's room. I have an old dresser that I also want to re do for her.

After school treats........

Yes, I'm such a good mom. (sarcasm) I slaved over a counter making these treats for the kids.....

I just used the original Rice Krispy treat recipe, melted some vanilla chips (I put in a bit of red food coloring in both the marshmallow mix and the vanilla chips) Cut them out with a heart cookie cutter, smeared the melted vanilla over and sprinkled. Pretty easy except that they took a long time and I ate some of the leavings and now have a stomach ache. :(

The kids will make them disappear when they come in...............................................Good Job, Mom! Hey, someone has to say it!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

2010, Two thousand ten, twenty ten??? whatcha gonna call it. I am sticking with two thousand ten.
I have had a pretty uneventful year so far.
Trying to get my house back to "normal".
We have had some water damage in our front room, the wall I just painted a couple months ago.
Really ticks me off.
I am trying to get rid of paper clutter............where does it all come from? YIKES!
I need to clean and organize my stamp room. I want to buy a sewing machine. I haven't sewed in years and thought I would never go back to it......but of late have been thinking of a few projects I would like to do. Where I will put the sewing machine is the next question!
Also, need clean out the humungous closet off of Lindsay's room. I swear 1/2 of what's in there is stuff we don't use. Goodwill, here we come.
All the kids are doing ok.........Ian has improved drastically. Praise God!
Dylan loves to read and is very good at it. He has a ferocious temper which we need to work on.
Lindsay is a total turd here at home, however she has her teachers, at school, church, sunday school totally fooled........"She's such a good girl, so well behaved........and on and on........."
HAH!!
Jake is a teenager and he is playing the part well. I love him so much. We went to see Avatar twice.......fantastic movie, the best I have ever seen. Jake wants to be a film director. He notices all the stuff about a movie....it's amazing .
Doug is working. He is well. I am thankful for a faithful husband who loves me.
I am still looking for a part time job. I have been a Stay at Home mother for 16 years. It is hard to know how to do anything else.
